Overview

Gastos Claros is a personal finance app designed for everyday use on desktop and mobile. It brings monthly income and expense records, loan installments, and recurring expense reminders together in one Indonesian-language interface.

The problem

Everyday spending, loan repayments, and recurring bills all affect a household’s monthly finances. When they are tracked in separate places, it can be harder to understand cash flow and see what still needs attention.

Product decisions

Keep scheduled expenses explicit

Recurring schedules act as reminders. They do not create ledger entries automatically. A payment is recorded only after the user reviews the amount and chooses Catat pembayaran. This keeps each transaction tied to a deliberate action.

Make loan repayment behavior visible

Loan principal, interest, and fees are divided into whole-Rupiah installments. The tracker separates scheduled payments, completed installments, and overdue amounts. Users can also correct a payment date or undo a payment.

Keep data on the user’s device

The app stores data in IndexedDB in the current browser. It can migrate existing local data and provides versioned JSON backups with a validated restore flow. There is no backend or cross-device sync. Users can use backups to preserve or move their data to another device.

Current scope

The app includes monthly income and expense summaries, dated transaction history, loan tracking with a downloadable monthly PDF, recurring expense reminders, and installable PWA support. After an online visit, the app shell can be cached for offline access. Financial records stay in the browser’s local database.

The frontend uses React, TypeScript, and Vite. Focused tests cover installment calculations, recurring payment safeguards, and save-queue recovery.
